Hyperhidrosis, also commonly known as excessive sweating, is a condition that affects all genders.
This condition can be embarrassing and uncomfortable, with it affecting around 3% of the UK population, impacting their day-to-day lives from working to socialising.
There are two main types of hyperhidrosis: Focal hyperhidrosis and Generalised hyperhidrosis. Focial hyperhidrosis is more common, involving excessive sweating of the hands, feet and underarms. Generalised hyperhidrosis is less common and affects the whole body and is usually a result of an illness or infection.
Wrinkle injections (botulinum toxin injections) can be used to treat hyperhidrosis. Although we may think of botulinum toxin as a cosmetic treatment for wrinkles, it is a muscle relaxant that has been used by doctors in the UK for years to treat profuse sweating as well as other medical conditions.

We do not offer treatment for excessive sweating of the hands and feet due to the discomfort, downtime and potential side effects that can be associated with performing the procedure in these areas.

Hyperhidrosis is a term for excess sweating and is treated with injections of botulinum toxin. This is an FDA-approved medicine that’s a muscle relaxant.

Botulinum toxin is a naturally purified protein that blocks the signals from the nerve endings to the sweat glands in the skin. This is used in the treatment of excessive sweating. This toxin is applied through micro injections into the skin targeting the sweat glands in the area which requires treatment. This safe procedure is proven to give dramatic and life-changing results for many who suffer from this condition.
It normally takes 5-7 days for the muscle relaxant injections to work.
You may need to repeat treatment for sweating approximately every 3-4 months. Your medical practitioner will give you all the advice you need.

Potential side effects may include:

- Muscle weakness around the treated area.
Treatment usually takes around 15-20 minutes. There is no downtime and you can resume normal activities right away.
