When bottom filler injections go wrong – and the experts who can fix the mistakes

Vassi Chamberlain, Contributing Editor to British Vogue, Editor-at-large, airmail.news and writer for the Sunday Times Magazine, details her experience of wanting a “perkier bum” but ending up in A&E, and how The Cosmetic Skin Clinic is helping to fix her bottom fillers gone wrong, safely.
How it began
We all want a perky bum, but for Vassi, “the thought of daily body brushing, endless squats and cellulite cream application on top of an already exhaustive skincare routine has always felt like too much.” She accepted her bum for what it was until the global butt trend took off. Even with the bum lift and implant horror stories out there, she was still willing to try as “cosmetic doctors from LA to London” were still “touting new and supposedly safe injectable wonder treatments.”
Where did it go wrong?
Vassi booked in for a biodegradable dermal filler and that “the treatment was sold to me as an extremely safe and relatively painless procedure. But despite being injected with lidocaine (a local anaesthetic) it did hurt. As I left the clinic, I began to feel faint. By the time I got home, I could feel my lips swelling, then my throat, quickly followed by a violently itchy rash all over my body.”
Luckily Vassi acted fast, went to the A&E and was “immediately diagnosed with an anaphylactic reaction and spent the next seven hours being pumped with hydrocortisone and steroids.”
What is the solution?
“So where does that leave me and my butt? The combination treatment of Emsculpt Neo (a musclebuilding radio frequency and electromagnetic technology) and Cool Sculpting, a fat reduction through cryolipolysis or extreme cold, produces measurable results. I booked myself in for a six-week regimen at Dr. Tracy Mountford’s Cosmetic Skin Clinic in London and I am already starting to see a noticeable improvement in my contours, although the final results will take months to be achieved.”
Dr. Tracy Mountford, founder of The Cosmetic Skin Clinic, offers EmSculpt Neo treatment from £2500 for four sessions and CoolSculpting treatments start from £800.
Will the combination of EMSculpt Neo and CoolSculpting give instant results?
Having learned a lesson the hard way, Vassi says to “think of it like the nuts and bolts, rather than instant gratification approach, but one which will keep me and my butt out of A&E and feeling perkier.”
The EMSculpt Neo® is a non-surgical, non-invasive treatment so you won’t have to worry about any needles. This FDA-approved short 30-minute session will give you visible results that are best seen 2-4 weeks after your last treatment session. The best thing yet, the results will keep improving in the weeks following.
CoolSculpting® is a non-invasive, cryolipolysis aka fat freezing treatment. It gently and effectively targets fat cells, so your body then disposes of them naturally. It may take a while for the full results to come through but when they do, they’ll be noticeable. Results may be seen as early as four to six weeks after your treatment.
