The lowdown
In the article, he explains the best way to treat “unsightly veins” using “VenaSeal, an innovative ‘glueing’ technique.” Various factors can cause patients to suffer from “bulging, bumping varicose veins,” including excess weight, genetics and pregnancy. But VenaSeal puts a stop to the blood “pooling and swelling” inside damaged vein canals by directly targeting and shrinking the affected vein.
A small incision and a “shot of local anaesthetic” are made before “a catheter is inserted into the vein and pushed towards the groin. Once inside, an adhesive ‘glue’ is then dispersed at multiple points, effectively sealing the cavity and rendering the vein redundant.”
Downtime
While the initial injection may sting slightly, patients should be able to leave the surgery straight away after receiving the treatment. Only a small incision is made on the treatment area, and this may be slightly tender for a few weeks after, but “painkillers will take the edge off.” In terms of downtime, there is “barely any – in fact, you’ll positively skip out of the clinic.” You just need to minimise any rigorous physical activity for 4 to 5 days while keeping the incision site dry.
