Fillers And Why I Love Them…

Fillers And Why I Love Them…

“When patients come in for a consultation and specifically say they don’t want fillers, their reasons are more often than not based on misconceptions and myth.

Sadly, some unfortunate celebrity mishaps do nothing to support my opinion, but only fuel the fire of fear. Patients often say: “If he/she gets it wrong with the access she has to all the top cosmetic doctors and an unlimited budget, what chance do I have?” I can understand their point.

I cannot deny that you don’t have to look very far to see cosmetic procedures that look anything other than natural or attractive and this can give the impression that all fillers look the same. This simply couldn’t be further from the truth.

Why we should embrace them

For the best part of 30 years I have been ‘banging the drum’ for natural, understated and beautiful cosmetic results that are age-appropriate and I have spent my professional life striving to achieve this. Indeed, it is far harder and takes significantly more skill and expertise to deliver a ‘has she, or hasn’t she?’ result that simply enhances natural beauty whatever the age.

Nowadays in the hands of very advanced cosmetic medical practitioners, the techniques we use are highly sophisticated, using injections of deep dermal filler (often on the bone – surprisingly comfortable!) to replace lost volume in strategic parts of the face. From cheek fillers, jawline fillers, chin fillers and more, these restorative treatments work to lift and support the face while restoring the youthful contours of the face back to where they once were. There is no ‘filled’ or ‘over- plumped’ look; in fact, no one should be able to detect that treatment has taken place at all.

Seeing is believing

To illustrate this theory, in the next few weeks I will be posting recent photographs of patients spanning the age categories from 30 to 60 to show how this looks in real life. I will also be sharing how the treatment has been done and how much filler it takes to achieve the optimum result.

I believe the results of these patients will hopefully challenge the thinking behind how good filler treatments can realistically look and how much they really can achieve.

Finally, there is no age limit to filler treatments, some of my patients are now in their 70’s and 80’s and enjoy looking the very best they can for as long as they can.”
